Damar Batu is a fossil resin from the Shorea tribe tree buried in the ground. Inside the wood fossil there is sap that is widely used by several industries as raw materials, such as the incense, glue, pharmaceutical and perfume industries. Usually, Damar Batu is ground finely so that the wood and sap are mixed and produce a distinctive aroma. Damar Batu resin is widely used today because it tends to be cheaper than other natural resins. Soil conditions greatly affect the quality of Damar Batu. Damar Batu is commonly found on the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan. The largest export destinations for Damar Batu are India and China.
