Gum Damar is a natural resin obtained from Dipterocarpaceae family of trees, mainly those of Shorea sp. This tree family is found predominantly in Lampung Sumatra, Indonesia. Its a very environmentally friendly and high quality natural resin which is soluble in alcohol and ethanol.
The quality is graded and determined mainly by the lump's size, the purity cleanliness and the color.
Gum Damar is commonly used in the vernish industry, paints, inks, glue, incense, soap, aromatherapy candles and cosmetics because of its properties as an adhesive and glossing agent.
